About our Artist: Hilmy Arifin says, 'I was born in Central Java in a town known for its batik art. This now inspires my designs. After graduating from the university, I worked as a lecturer and teacher. My husband is a leather entrepreneur and today, I work in leather as well. My designs are more classic style in style. In addition to my handbags, I recently began developing leather jewelry, which makes use of the scraps so nothing is wasted. I am assisted by four artisans, some of whom have disabilities. I also give work to mothers who live nearby. We have one daughter who makes us really happy. Always doing the best in any condition is the way to solve problems. What really makes me feel peace and tranquility is when I pray.'...
